Paf1, RNA polymerase II associated factor, homolog

Paf1, Pd2
This gene encodes a subunit of the polymerase associated factor (PAF1) complex. The PAF1 complex interacts with RNA polymerase II and plays a role in transcription elongation as well as histone modifications including ubiquitylation and methylation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2012] (from NCBI)

Overexpression of PD2 leads to increased tumorigenicity and metastasis in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.
Batra et al., Omaha, United States. In Oncotarget, Jan 2016
UNASSIGNED: Pancreatic differentiation 2 (PD2), an important subunit of the human PAF complex, was identified after differential screening analysis of 19q13 amplicon, and its overexpression induces oncogenic transformation of NIH3T3 cells, hence raising the possibility of a role for PD2 in tumorigenesis and metastasis.
RNA polymerase II-associated factor 1 regulates the release and phosphorylation of paused RNA polymerase II.
Roeder et al., New York City, United States. In Science, Jan 2016
We found that Pol II-associated factor 1 (PAF1) is a critical regulator of paused Pol II release, that positive transcription elongation factor b (P-TEFb) directly regulates the initial recruitment of PAF1 complex (PAF1C) to genes, and that the subsequent recruitment of CDK12 is dependent on PAF1C.

Skinner, Houston, United States. In Neurol Clin, 1993
This may arise because the PD2 is sensitive to the net degrees of freedom of the heartbeat generator, which, under the influence of the nerves and the coronary circulation, can be shifted so the resulting dynamics cause the initiation of lethal arrhythmogenesis.
