WD repeat domain 6

This gene encodes a member of the WD repeat protein family. WD repeats are minimally conserved regions of approximately 40 amino acids typically bracketed by gly-his and trp-asp (GH-WD), which may facilitate formation of heterotrimeric or multiprotein complexes. The encoded protein interacts with serine/threonine kinase 11, and is implicated in cell growth arrest. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2008] (from NCBI)

Identification of Restriction Factors by Human Genome-Wide RNA Interference Screening of Viral Host Range Mutants Exemplified by Discovery of SAMD9 and WDR6 as Inhibitors of the Vaccinia Virus K1L-C7L- Mutant.
Moss et al., Bethesda, United States. In Mbio, 2014
This positive-selection screen had remarkably low background levels and resulted in the identification of a few cellular genes, notably SAMD9 and WDR6, from approximately 20,000 tested that dramatically enhanced green fluorescent protein expression.
Integrative analysis of the human cis-antisense gene pairs, miRNAs and their transcription regulation patterns.
Kuznetsov et al., Singapore, Singapore. In Nucleic Acids Res, 2010
Specifically, we revealed complex SA structural-functional gene module composing the protein-coding genes, WDR6, DALRD3, NDUFAF3 and ncRNA precursors, mir-425 and mir-191, which could provide downregulation of ncRNA pathway via direct targeting DICER1 and basonuclin 2 transcripts by mir-425 and mir-191 in normal spermatogenesis, but this mechanism is switched off in severe teratozoospermia.
Identification and characterization of an insulin receptor substrate 4-interacting protein in rat brain: implications for longevity.

Transgenic rat gene WDR6 is expressed in the hypothalamus and interacts with insulin receptor substrate 4 (IRS-4) in the brain.
Association of LKB1 with a WD-repeat protein WDR6 is implicated in cell growth arrest and p27(Kip1) induction.
Chen et al., Shanghai, China. In Mol Cell Biochem, 2007
Results suggest that WDR6 is implicated in the cell growth inhibitory pathway of LKB1 via regulation of p27(Kip1).
Molecular cloning, expression analysis, and chromosome mapping of WDR6, a novel human WD-repeat gene.
Roberts et al., Houston, United States. In Biochem Biophys Res Commun, 2000
Here we report on the cloning and characterization of a novel human WD-repeat gene, WDR6, which encodes a protein of 1121 amino acids and contains 11 WD-repeat units.
