Pre-B lymphocyte 1

VpreB, IGI, pre-B lymphocyte, VpreB1
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and is expressed selectively at the early stages of B cell development, namely, in proB and early preB cells. This gene encodes the iota polypeptide chain that is associated with the Ig-mu chain to form a molecular complex which is expressed on the surface of pre-B cells. The complex is thought to regulate Ig gene rearrangements in the early steps of B-cell differentiation. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008] (from NCBI)

Pre-B Lymphocyte Protein 3 (VPREB3) Expression in the Adrenal Cortex: Precedent for non-Immunological Roles in Normal and Neoplastic Human Tissues.
New
Sasano et al., Sendai, Japan. In Endocr Pathol, May 2015
The pre-B lymphocyte protein 3 (VPREB3) is expressed during B cell differentiation and in subsets of mature B lymphocytes and is mainly found in bone marrow and lymphoid tissue germinative centers.
Transcriptional and metabolic pre-B cell receptor-mediated checkpoints: implications for autoimmune diseases.
Review
Zouali, Paris, France. In Mol Immunol, 2014
At the pre-B cell stage of lymphocyte development, immunoglobulin light-chains are not yet produced, and heavy-chains are covalently linked to surrogate light-chains composed of VpreB and λ5 to form the pre-B cell receptor (pre-BCR) in a non-covalent association with signal-transducing modules.
Impaired B lymphopoiesis in old age: a role for inflammatory B cells?
Review
Riley, Miami, United States. In Immunol Res, 2013
Both of these likely ensue from reduced expression of the surrogate light chain (λ5 + VpreB) and consequently reduced expression of the pre-B cell receptor (preBCR), critical to pre-B cell expansion and Vh selection.
Controlling feeding behavior by chemical or gene-directed targeting in the brain: what's so spatial about our methods?
Review
Khan, El Paso, United States. In Front Neurosci, 2012
This approach can also be applied to those intracranial "gene-directed" injection (IGI) methods (e.g., site-specific recombinase methods, RNA expression or interference, optogenetics, and pharmacosynthetics) that involve viral injections to targeted neuronal populations.

GeneRIF
Chung et al., Seoul, South Korea. In Mol Immunol, 2011
The proportion of the individuals with <2 copies of the VPREB1 gene was significantly higher in the patient group than that in the controls, while that of the individuals with >2 copies was lower in the patient group than that in the controls.
