Epsilon-tubulin 1

TUBE, epsilon-tubulin
This gene encodes a member of the tubulin superfamily. This protein localizes to the centriolar sub-distal appendages that are associated with the older of the two centrioles after centrosome duplication. This protein plays a central role in organization of the microtubules during centriole duplication. A pseudogene of this gene is found on chromosome 5.[provided by RefSeq, Jan 2009] (from NCBI)
Top mentioned proteins: gamma-tubulin, delta-tubulin, CAN, alpha-tubulin, TRIC
Papers on TUBE
Precise digit use increases the expression of handedness in Colombian spider monkeys (Ateles fusciceps rufiventris).
Boeving et al., Miami, United States. In Am J Primatol, Dec 2015
The TUBE task has become a popular measure of handedness, although there is variability in its administration across studies.
Location of Instability During a Bench Press Alters Movement Patterns and Electromyographical Activity.
Drake et al., Toronto, Canada. In J Strength Cond Res, Nov 2015
Typically, the instability device is placed at the trunk/upper body (e.g., lying on a Swiss ball); however, a recent product called the Attitube has been developed, which places the location of instability at the hands by users lifting a water-filled tube.
Zeta-Tubulin Is a Member of a Conserved Tubulin Module and Is a Component of the Centriolar Basal Foot in Multiciliated Cells.
Stearns et al., Stanford, United States. In Curr Biol, Sep 2015
In contrast, delta- and epsilon-tubulin are conserved in many, but not all, eukaryotes and are associated with centrioles, although their molecular function is unclear.
A comprehensive method for detecting ubiquitinated substrates using TR-TUBE.
Tanaka et al., Tokyo, Japan. In Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A, May 2015
Here, we show that exogenously expressed trypsin-resistant tandem ubiquitin-binding entity(ies) (TR-TUBE) protect polyubiquitin chains on substrates from DUBs and circumvent proteasome-mediated degradation in cells.
ABNORMAL POLLEN TUBE GUIDANCE1, an Endoplasmic Reticulum-Localized Mannosyltransferase Homolog of GLYCOSYLPHOSPHATIDYLINOSITOL10 in Yeast and PHOSPHATIDYLINOSITOL GLYCAN ANCHOR BIOSYNTHESIS B in Human, Is Required for Arabidopsis Pollen Tube Micropylar Guidance and Embryo Development.
Zhang et al., China. In Plant Physiol, 2014
The perception and response of pollen tubes to the female guidance signals are crucial for directional pollen tube growth inside female tissues, which leads to successful reproduction.
Expression analysis reveals a role for hydrophobic or epicuticular wax signals in pre-penetration structure formation of Phakopsora pachyrhizi.
Mysore et al., Ardmore, United States. In Plant Signal Behav, 2013
Recently, we identified a Medicago truncatula gene, IRG1 (INHIBITOR OF RUST GERM-TUBE DIFFERENTIATION1), that when mutated inhibits the growth of P. pachyrhizi.
Which are the features of the TUBE task that make it so efficient in detecting manual asymmetries? An investigation in two Cercopithecine species (Cercopithecus neglectus and Cercocebus torquatus).
Blois-Heulin et al., Rennes, France. In J Comp Psychol, 2013
In the last decade, the TUBE task has been repeatedly shown to be highly efficient in detecting manual asymmetries that are strong hand preferences reflecting hemispheric specialization, in non human primates.
Pitx3 directly regulates Foxe3 during early lens development.
Graw et al., M√ľnchen, Germany. In Int J Dev Biol, 2012
This was associated with loss of Foxe3 expression, complete absence of Prox1 expression, reduced expression of epsilon-tubulin and earlier expression of gamma-crystallin during lens development.
Natural variation in PTB1 regulates rice seed setting rate by controlling pollen tube growth.
Li et al., China. In Nat Commun, 2012
Here we show that the domestication-related POLLEN TUBE BLOCKED 1 (PTB1), a RING-type E3 ubiquitin ligase, positively regulates the rice panicle seed setting rate by promoting pollen tube growth.
EB1 recognizes the nucleotide state of tubulin in the microtubule lattice.
Howard et al., Dresden, Germany. In Plos One, 2008
EB1 recognizes the nucleotide state of tubulin in the microtubule lattice
Effects of early adverse experiences on behavioural lateralisation in rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta).
Hopkins et al., Winston-Salem, United States. In Laterality, 2008
Handedness was assessed in rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta) using a task that measures coordinated bimanual actions and is referred to as the TUBE task.
The POK/AtVPS52 protein localizes to several distinct post-Golgi compartments in sporophytic and gametophytic cells.
Bonhomme et al., Versailles, France. In J Exp Bot, 2007
From the study of an Arabidopsis thaliana male gametophytic mutant, it was possible to isolate a gene named POKY POLLEN TUBE (POK) essential for pollen tube tip growth.
Long-lost relatives reappear: identification of new members of the tubulin superfamily.

delta- and epsilon-tubulin are found in most organisms that assemble triplet microtubules.
Epsilon-tubulin is required for centriole duplication and microtubule organization.

Delta-tubulin and epsilon-tubulin: two new human centrosomal tubulins reveal new aspects of centrosome structure and function.
Stearns et al., Stanford, United States. In Nat Cell Biol, 2000

Identification of two new members of the tubulin family.
Burns, London, United Kingdom. In Cell Motil Cytoskeleton, 1994
Analysis of the delta- and epsilon-tubulin sequences indicates that they both consist of two structural domains of which the N-terminal domain can bind to alpha/beta heterodimers while the C-terminal domain probably binds to a non-tubulin protein.
