Tetraspanin 3

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily, also known as the tetraspanin family. Most of these members are cell-surface proteins that are characterized by the presence of four hydrophobic domains. The proteins mediate signal transduction events that play a role in the regulation of cell development, activation, growth and motility. The use of alternate polyadenylation sites has been found for this gene. Multiple alternative transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2009] (from NCBI)

Identification of genes with consistent methylation levels across different human tissues.
Chuang et al., Taipei, Taiwan. In Sci Rep, 2013
Mass spectrometry validated the consistently high methylation levels of the five probes (N4BP2, EGFL8, CTRB1, TSPAN3, and ZNF690) in 13 human tissue types from 24 cell lines.
Gene expression analysis of blastemal component reveals genes associated with relapse mechanism in Wilms tumour.
Carraro et al., Antigua and Barbuda. In Eur J Cancer, 2011
TSPAN3, NCOA6, CDO1, MPP2 and MCM2 were confirmed to be down-regulated in relapse WT, and TSPAN3 and NCOA6 were also validated in an independent sample group.

Broderick et al., Edmonton, Canada. In Behav Brain Funct, 2007
RESULTS: Median expression for a set of 6 genes preferentially up-regulated in CD19+ B cells was significantly lower in CFS (p = 0.01) due mainly to PTPRK and TSPAN3 expression.
In Silico Promoter Analysis can Predict Genes of Functional Relevance in Cell Proliferation: Validation in a Colon Cancer Model.
Macmathuna et al., Dublin, Ireland. In Transl Oncogenomics, 2006
