Tolloid-like 2

Tll2
This gene encodes an astacin-like zinc-dependent metalloprotease and is a subfamily member of the metzincin family. Unlike other family members, a similar protein in mice does not cleave procollagen C-propeptides or chordin. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] (from NCBI)
Top mentioned proteins: TLL, myostatin, Bone morphogenetic protein, fibrillin-1, GM-CSF

Cross-training in birds: cold and exercise training produce similar changes in maximal metabolic output, muscle masses and myostatin expression in house sparrows (Passer domesticus).
New
Swanson et al., United States. In J Exp Biol, Jul 2015
To examine whether such correlations occur, we measured the effects of experimental cold and exercise training protocols for 3 weeks on body (Mb) and muscle (Mpec) masses, basal metabolic rate (BMR), Msum, MMR, pectoralis mRNA and protein expression for myostatin, and mRNA expression of TLL-1 and TLL-2 (metalloproteinase activators of myostatin) in house sparrows (Passer domesticus).
Phenotypic flexibility of skeletal muscle and heart masses and expression of myostatin and tolloid-like proteinases in migrating passerine birds.
New
Swanson et al., United States. In J Comp Physiol B, Apr 2015
A potential mechanism for increasing muscle and heart masses during migration in birds is the muscle growth inhibitor myostatin and its metalloproteinase activators, tolloid-like proteinases (TLL-1 and TLL-2).

Lipase preparations Lipolase® (TLL1) and Lipex® 100 L (TLL2) from Thermomyces lanuginosus and Lipase AK from Pseudomonas fluorescens (PFL) were immobilized on glyoxyl-agarose beads prepared by activation with glycidol (Gly) and epichlorohydrin (Epi).
Seasonal variation in pectoralis muscle and heart myostatin and tolloid-like proteinases in small birds: a regulatory role for seasonal phenotypic flexibility?
Harmon et al., United States. In J Comp Physiol B, 2014
We examined summer-to-winter variation in skeletal muscle and heart masses and used qPCR and Western blots to measure levels of myostatin and its metalloproteinase activators TLL-1 and TLL-2 for two small temperate-zone resident birds, American goldfinches (Spinus tristis) and black-capped chickadees (Poecile atricapillus).
NCI-60 whole exome sequencing and pharmacological CellMiner analyses.
Pommier et al., Campo Grande, Brazil. In Plos One, 2013
These include genes of known pharmacological importance such as IGF1R, BRAF, RAD52, MTOR, STAT2 and TSC2 as well as a large number of candidate genes such as NOM1, TLL2, and XDH.
Cross-species genetics converge to TLL2 for mouse avoidance behavior and human bipolar disorder.
Kas et al., Utrecht, Netherlands. In Genes Brain Behav, 2013
By means of a comparative genetic strategy within the human homologous region, we describe an association for TLL2 with bipolar disorder using the genome-wide association study (GWAS) data set generated by the Wellcome Trust Case Control Consortium (WTCCC).
Skeletal muscle expression of bone morphogenetic protein-1 and tolloid-like-1 extracellular proteases in different fiber types and in response to unloading, food deprivation and differentiation.
Lindsay et al., Boulder, United States. In J Physiol Sci, 2010
The purpose of this work was to examine the expression of BMP-1/mTLD, tolloid-like-1 and -2 (TLL1 and TLL2) in hindlimb muscles of the mouse in vivo and in C(2)C(12) muscle cells in vitro.
Seasonal variation of myostatin gene expression in pectoralis muscle of house sparrows (Passer domesticus) is consistent with a role in regulating thermogenic capacity and cold tolerance.
Clark et al., United States. In Physiol Biochem Zool, 2009
As a first step toward examining such a role for myostatin in small birds, we measured summer and winter gene expression of myostatin and its potential metalloproteinase activators TLL-1 and TLL-2 in house sparrows from southeastern South Dakota.
Structural basis for the substrate specificity of bone morphogenetic protein 1/tolloid-like metalloproteases.
GeneRIF
