Tetraspanin 6

T245, TM4SF6
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily, also known as the tetraspanin family. Most of these members are cell-surface proteins that are characterized by the presence of four hydrophobic domains. The proteins mediate signal transduction events that play a role in the regulation of cell development, activation, growth and motility. This encoded protein is a cell surface glycoprotein and is highly similar in sequence to the transmembrane 4 superfamily member 2. The use of alternate polyadenylation sites has been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] (from NCBI)

Papers on T245
Mechanisms of allosteric regulation of Trypanosoma cruzi S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase.
Phillips et al., Dallas, United States. In Biochemistry, 2006
Mutagenesis of the active site identified residues that are important for putrescine stimulation of activity (F7 and T245), while none of the active site mutations altered the apparent putrescine-binding constant.
Kinetic studies of Thermobifida fusca Cel9A active site mutant enzymes.
Wilson et al., Ithaca, United States. In Biochemistry, 2004
Several amino acids located in a loop at the end of the catalytic cleft (T245-L251) were deleted from Cel9A-68, and this enzyme showed slightly improved filter paper activity and binding to BMCC but otherwise behaved like the wild-type enzyme.
Polymorphisms in the osteoprotegerin gene are associated with osteoporotic fractures.
Eriksen et al., Ã…rhus, Denmark. In J Bone Miner Res, 2002
Subsequently, we examined the effect of the informative polymorphisms A163-G (promoter), T245-G (promoter), T950-C (promoter), G1181-C (exon 1), and A6890-C (intron 4) on the prevalence of osteoporotic fractures, bone mass, and bone turnover in 268 osteoporotic patients and 327 normal controls.
Dendritic epidermal T cells inhibit T cell proliferation and may induce tolerance by cytotoxicity.
Kripke et al., Houston, United States. In J Immunol, 1994
In addition, because AU16 cells, unlike most DETC, express a TCR-alpha beta, we compared their activity in the in vivo and in vitro assays with a TCR(+)-gamma delta DETC line (T245) and an TCR(+)-alpha beta, FITC-specific T cell line (T4/28).
In vitro responses of nude mouse-xenografted human colon carcinomas exposed to doxorubicin derivatives in tissue culture and in the mouse.
Kaplan et al., In Cancer Res, 1982
In vitro responses of 4 xenografted human colon tumors (T183, T219, T245, and T348) to various doses of 4'-deoxydoxorubicin have been investigated.
