Two new cases of serine deficiency disorders treated with l-serine.
Paris, France. In Eur J Paediatr Neurol, Jan 2016
OBJECTIVE AND PATIENTS: We report on two new cases of serine deficiency due respectively to 3-phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase (PHGDH) deficiency (Patient 1) and phosphoserine aminotransferase (PSAT1) deficiency (Patient 2), presenting with congenital microcephaly (<3rd centile at birth) and encephalopathy with spasticity.
Prostate-specific antigen kinetic profiles during androgen deprivation therapy as prognostic factors in castration-resistant prostate cancer.
Seoul, South Korea. In Urol Oncol, May 2015
The parameters evaluated as prognostic factors were as follows: age, body mass index, Gleason score, clinical TNM stage, prior radical prostatectomy, prior radiation therapy, performance status, presence of pain, laboratory results at the start of DCT, and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) kinetics during prior androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), including PSA level at the start of ADT (PSA-ADT), PSA half-time (PSAT1/2), time to nadir, PSA level at nadir (PSA-Nadir), duration of nadir, PSA doubling time (PSADT), and PSA level at the start of DCT (PSA-DCT).
Bioinformatics analysis of the serine and glycine pathway in cancer cells.
Roma, Italy. In Oncotarget, 2014
Employing 3 subsequent enzymes, phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase (PHGDH), phosphoserine phosphatase (PSPH), phosphoserine aminotransferase 1 (PSAT1), 3-phosphoglycerate from glycolysis can be converted in serine, which in turn can by converted in glycine by serine methyl transferase (SHMT).
Site-specific metabolic phenotypes in metastatic breast cancer.
Seoul, South Korea. In J Transl Med, 2013
It was subject to immunohistochemical staining of the following proteins: Glycolysis-related: Glut-1, hexolinase II, carbonic anhydrase (CA) IX, and monocarboxylate transporter (MCT) 4; glutaminolysis-related: glutaminase (GLS) 1, glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH), and amino acid transporter (ASCT) 2; mitochondrial metabolism-related: ATP synthase, succinate dehydrogenase (SDH)A, and SDHB; and serine/glycine metabolism related: phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase (PHGDH), phosphoserine aminotransferase (PSAT), phosphoserine phosphatase (PSPH), glycine decarboxylase (GLDC), and serine hydroxymethyltransferase (SHMT).
