Paired-like homeodomain 1

Pitx1, Ptx1, BFT, CD14 protein, paired-like homeodomain transcription factor
This gene encodes a member of the RIEG/PITX homeobox family, which is in the bicoid class of homeodomain proteins. Members of this family are involved in organ development and left-right asymmetry. This protein acts as a transcriptional regulator involved in basal and hormone-regulated activity of prolactin. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] (from NCBI)

New
Kato et al., Japan. In J Reprod Dev, Jan 2016
Reporter assays for another 39 factors using the 3 kb upstream regions in CHO cells ultimately revealed that 8 factors, MSX2, PAX6, PIT1, PITX1, PITX2, RPF1, SOX8 and SOX11, but not RBP-J, regulate Prop1 expression.
Functional characterization of a human POU1F1 mutation associated with isolated growth hormone deficiency: a novel etiology for IGHD.
New
Amselem et al., Paris, France. In Hum Mol Genet, Dec 2015
Co-immunoprecipitation studies reveal that this substitution enhances interactions of POU1F1 with three of its cofactors, PITX1, LHX3a and ELK1, and that residue 76 plays a critical role in these interactions.
Co-operation of TLR4 and raft proteins in LPS-induced pro-inflammatory signaling.
Review
New
Kwiatkowska et al., Warsaw, Poland. In Cell Mol Life Sci, Feb 2015
In a typical scenario, activation of TLR4 is preceded by binding of LPS to CD14 protein anchored in cholesterol- and sphingolipid-rich microdomains of the plasma membrane called rafts.

Review
Yuan et al., Changsha, China. In Expert Rev Mol Med, 2014
To date, in human, at least ten loci and four disease-causing genes, including the GLI3 gene, the ZNF141 gene, the MIPOL1 gene and the PITX1 gene, have been identified.
