Phosphodiesterase 7B

PDE7B, phosphodiesterase 7B
The 3',5'-cyclic nucleotides cAMP and cGMP function as second messengers in a wide variety of signal transduction pathways. 3',5'-cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases (PDEs) catalyze the hydrolysis of cAMP and cGMP to the corresponding 5'-monophosphates and provide a mechanism to downregulate cAMP and cGMP signaling. This gene encodes a cAMP-specific phosphodiesterase, a member of the cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase family.[provided by RefSeq, Apr 2009] (from NCBI)

Targeting cAMP in chronic lymphocytic leukemia: a pathway-dependent approach for the treatment of leukemia and lymphoma.
Insel et al., San Diego, United States. In Expert Opin Ther Targets, 2013
EXPERT OPINION: This 'pathway approach' targeted to cAMP has identified GPCR agonists/antagonists, AC activators (e.g., AC7), PDE inhibitors (e.g., PDE7B) and/or activators or inhibitors of downstream mediators (PKA and Epac, respectively), which might be utilized therapeutically in CLL.
New methods for the discovery and synthesis of PDE7 inhibitors as new drugs for neurological and inflammatory disorders.
Abdollahi et al., Tehrān, Iran. In Expert Opin Drug Discov, 2013
EXPERT OPINION: There are only a few selective PDE7 inhibitors that can discriminate between PDE7A and PDE7B, but due to different tissue distribution and physiological functions in the body, the hope is to develop selective PDE7A and PDE7B inhibitors to target more specific functions and pathological conditions without a high likelihood of causing nonspecific side effects.
High expression of cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase 7B mRNA predicts poor prognosis in mantle cell lymphoma.
Li et al., Nanjing, China. In Leuk Res, 2013
In order to determine the relationship between expression of cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase isoform 7B (PDE7B) and mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) progression, PDE7B mRNA expression was measured by qRT-PCR in 21 untreated MCL patients with bone marrow involvement and 20 healthy donors.
