New insights into the mechanism of the DNA/doxorubicin interaction.
Burgos, Spain. In J Phys Chem B, Mar 2014
A thermodynamic and kinetic study of the binding of doxorubicin to DNA, carried out by circular dichroism, viscometry, differential scanning calorimetry, fluorescence, isothermal titration calorimetry, and T-jump relaxation measurements, has enabled us to characterize for the first time two different types of calf thymus DNA (ctDNA)/DOX complexes: PD1 for C(DOX)/C(DNA) < 0.3, and PD2 for higher drug content.

Parafibromin is a component of the highly conserved PAF1 complex, which regulates transcriptional events and histone modifications.

This may arise because the PD2 is sensitive to the net degrees of freedom of the heartbeat generator, which, under the influence of the nerves and the coronary circulation, can be shifted so the resulting dynamics cause the initiation of lethal arrhythmogenesis.
Application of chaos theory to biology and medicine.

For biological systems, the point correlation dimension (PD2) has an advantage in that it does not presume stationarity of the data, as the D2 algorithm must, and thus can track the transient non-stationarities that occur when the systems changes state.
