Calcium oscillations triggered by cardiotonic steroids.
Stockholm, Sweden. In Febs J, Nov 2013
In this brief review, we describe how cardiotonic steroids, which are highly specific NKA ligands, trigger slow Ca(2+) oscillations by promoting the interaction between NKA and the inositol trisphosphate receptor, and how this Ca(2+) signal activates the NF-κB subunit p65 and increases the expression of the antiapoptotic factor Bcl-xL.
Transcriptional control by NF-κB: elongation in focus.
Israel. In Biochim Biophys Acta, Sep 2013
Particularly, the cascade leading to phosphorylation and acetylation of the NF-κB subunit p65 on serine 276 and lysine 310, respectively, was shown to mediate the recruitment of Brd4 and P-TEFb to many pro-inflammatory target genes, which in turn facilitate elongation and mRNA processing.
Sirtuin-1 and HIV-1: an overview.
Catania, Italy. In Curr Drug Targets, Jul 2013
In fact, Tat blocks the ability of SIRT1 to deacetylate lysine 310 in the p65 subunit of nuclear factor- κB (NF- κB) by interacting with the deacetylase domain of SIRT1.

Klotho down-regulation may be induced by specific cytokines such as tumour necrosis factor-α or TWEAK through the canonical activation of the inflammatory transcription factor nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB) and, specifically RelA.
