CD109 molecule

p180, GARP, GAR1, POLA, CD109, Gar1p
This gene encodes a member of the alpha2-macroglobulin/complement superfamily. The encoded GPI-linked glycoprotein is found on the cell surface of platelets, activated T-cells, and endothelial cells. The protein binds to and negatively regulates signaling of transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta). Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Apr 2009] (from NCBI)

Papers on p180
A conserved motif in the C-terminal tail of DNA polymerase α tethers primase to the eukaryotic replisome.
GeneRIF
Pellegrini et al., Cambridge, United Kingdom. In J Biol Chem, 2012
Findings indicate that tethering of primase to the replisome by DNA polymerase alpha (pol alpha) is critical for the normal action of DNA replication forks in eukaryotic cells.
Age-related changes in Cngb1-X1 knockout mice: prolonged cone survival.
GeneRIF
Kraft et al., Birmingham, United States. In Doc Ophthalmol, 2012
These results confirm that rods are marginally functional in the absence of the beta-subunit and in addition show that CFF (critical flicker frequency)may be a more sensitive measure of remaining functional cone vision
GARP regulates the bioavailability and activation of TGFβ.
GeneRIF
Springer et al., Boston, United States. In Mol Biol Cell, 2012
Findings support the idea that GARP is a new latent TGFbeta-binding protein that regulates the bioavailability of TGFbeta and provides a cell surface platform for alphaV integrin-dependent TGFbeta activation.
The C11orf30-LRRC32 region is associated with total serum IgE levels in asthmatic patients.
GeneRIF
Meyers et al., In J Allergy Clin Immunol, 2012
There are 2 independent signals, one in C11orf30 and the other in LRRC32, that are strongly associated with serum IgE levels. C11orf30-LRRC32 region may represent a common locus for atopic diseases via pathways involved in regulation of serum IgE levels
p180 promotes the ribosome-independent localization of a subset of mRNA to the endoplasmic reticulum.
