Autonomic involvement in Parkinsonian carriers of PARK2 gene mutations.
Bilbao, Spain. In Parkinsonism Relat Disord, Jul 2015
RESULTS: The prevalence of autonomic symptoms and orthostatic hypotension (OH) was lower in PARK2 mutation carriers than in iPD patients (SCOPA OUT: 3.4 ± 4.8 vs. 14.7 ± 7.2, p < 0.001; OH: present in three iPD patients but none of the PARK2 mutation carriers).
Polarity of water transport across epidermal cell membranes in Tradescantia virginiana.
Davis, United States. In Plant Physiol, 2014
Using the automated cell pressure probe, small and highly reproducible hydrostatic pressure clamp (PC) and pressure relaxation (PR) tests (typically, applied step change in pressure = 0.02 MPa and overall change in volume = 30 pL, respectively) were applied to individual Tradescantia virginiana epidermal cells to determine both exosmotic and endosmotic hydraulic conductivity (L(p)(OUT) and L(p)(IN), respectively).
Development of antibiotic-free selection system for safer DNA vaccination.
Lincoln, United States. In Methods Mol Biol, 2013
This chapter presents methodologies for the design and cloning of synthetic antigen genes into RNA-OUT encoding antibiotic-free DNA vaccine vectors that are additionally optimized to improve protein expression, and immunogenicity, compared to alternative kanamycin-resistant vectors.
Primary motor cortex hyperexcitability in Fabry's disease.
Sassari, Italy. In Clin Neurophysiol, 2013
METHODS: Resting (RMT) and active (AMT) motor threshold, input-output curve (IN-OUT), central motor conduction time (CMCT), cortical silent period (cSP), short and long interval intracortical inhibition (SICI and LICI), intracortical facilitation (ICF), short interval intracortical facilitation (SICF) and short afferent inhibition (SAI) were measured in the cortical representation of the right first dorsal interosseous muscle in 11 patients with FD and 11 sex- and age matched healthy subjects.
