HYPERREFLECTIVE RETINAL SPOTS AND VISUAL FUNCTION AFTER ANTI-VASCULAR ENDOTHELIAL GROWTH FACTOR TREATMENT IN CENTER-INVOLVING DIABETIC MACULAR EDEMA.
Padova, Italy. In Retina, Jan 2016
Twenty diabetic patients underwent 3 consecutive intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor injections in the study eye (20 fellow eyes served as control), full ophthalmologic examination including spectral domain optical coherence tomography (Retinascan RS-3000; Nidek, Gamagori, Japan), and microperimetry (MP1; Nidek) at baseline (Visit-V1), 1 month after each injection (V2, V3, V4), and at 6 months (V5).
Fundus-driven perimetry (microperimetry) compared to conventional static automated perimetry: similarities, differences, and clinical applications.
Cardiff, United Kingdom. In Can J Ophthalmol, 2013
In this article, we review the technique, focusing on the MP-1 microperimeter (Nidek Instruments, Inc, Padua, Italy); we compare it with conventional static automated perimetry, emphasizing the importance of understanding the effects of the different stimulus conditions and data analyses on the interpretation of microperimetry data.
Carcinogenic role of tumor necrosis factor-alpha inducing protein of Helicobacter pylori in human stomach.
Saitama, Japan. In J Biochem Mol Biol, 2006
Based on our findings that TNF-alpha is an endogenous tumor promoter, we identified the TNFalpha inducing protein (Tipalpha) gene family, and confirmed Tipalpha and HP-MP1 as new carcinogenic proteins of H. pylori.Tipalpha protein is unique to H. pylori, and this paper shows the strong tumor promoting activity of Tipalpha gene family, in cooperation with Ras protein and its mechanisms of action in relation to NF-kappaB activation, and discusses the carcinogenic role of Tipalpha in stomach cancer.
Involvement of TNF-alpha changes in human cancer development, prevention and palliative care.
Saitama, Japan. In Mech Ageing Dev, 2002
This paper presents three clinical examples of TNF-alpha up-regulation: by cord factors of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, such as trehalose 6-monomycolate, as an activator of protein kinase C and by a cord factor like fraction of Microsporum canis obtained in the air inside houses in Thailand, both of which are risk factors in human lung cancer development, and by Helicobacter pylori gene product, H. pylori membrane protein 1 (HP-MP1) in relation to human stomach cancer.
