Myosin, light chain 6B, alkali, smooth muscle and non-muscle

Mlc1sa, myosin light chain 1 slow-twitch muscle A
Myosin is a hexameric ATPase cellular motor protein. It is composed of two heavy chains, two nonphosphorylatable alkali light chains, and two phosphorylatable regulatory light chains. This gene encodes a myosin alkali light chain expressed in both slow-twitch skeletal muscle and in nonmuscle tissue. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Timson et al., Belfast, United Kingdom. In Biosci Rep, 2011
The first IQ-motifs from IQGAP2 and IQGAP3 formed transient interactions with CaM in the absence of calcium and the first motif from IQGAP3 formed a transient interaction with the myosin essential light chain Mlc1sa.
The interaction of IQGAPs with calmodulin-like proteins.
Timson et al., Belfast, United Kingdom. In Biochem Soc Trans, 2011
IQ1 (the first IQ motif) interacts with the myosin essential light chain Mlc1sa and the first two undergo a calcium-dependent interaction with S100B.
IQ motif selectivity in human IQGAP1: binding of myosin essential light chain and S100B.
Timson et al., Belfast, United Kingdom. In Mol Cell Biochem, 2008
Only the first IQ motif of IQGAP1 interacts with MYL6B. The first and second IQ motifs of IQGAP1 interact with S100B in the presence of calcium ions.

[Clinical relevance of myosin isoforms in the diaphragm].
Decramer et al., Leuven, Belgium. In Rev Mal Respir, 2000
The diaphragm contains 4 MHC isoforms (MHC-slow, MHC-2A, MHC-2B, MHC-2X) and 6 MLC isoforms (MLC-1f, MLC-3f, MLC-1sa, MLC-1sb, MLC-2f, MLC-2s/v).

Perriard et al., Z├╝rich, Switzerland. In J Cell Sci, 1996
The slow skeletal muscle type (MLC1sa) showed a weak sarcomeric pattern if it was co-expressed with MLC3nm, but it was distributed throughout the cytoplasm when expressed in combination with MLC1f, MLC3f or the slow skeletal/ventricular muscle isoform (MLC1sb).
Characterization of human myosin light chains 1sa and 3nm: implications for isoform evolution and function.
Gunning et al., Australia. In Mol Cell Biol, 1990
We have isolated a cDNA clone for the human slow-twitch muscle isoform myosin light-chain 1slow-a (MLC1sa) from a skeletal muscle library and for the human nonmuscle isoform myosin light-chain 3nonmuscle (MLC3nm) from a fibroblast library.
