Pathogen-associated molecular patterns activate expression of genes involved in cell proliferation, immunity and detoxification in the amebocyte-producing organ of the snail Biomphalaria glabrata.Sullivan et al., Albuquerque, United States. In Dev Comp Immunol, Mar 2016
In addition to stimulating genes involved in cell proliferation, the injected substances, especially LPS, also induced expression of a number of immune-related genes including arginase, peptidoglycan recognition protein short form, tumor necrosis factor receptor, ficolin, calmodulin, bacterial permeability increasing proteins and E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase.
Ficolin Gene Polymorphisms in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Rheumatoid Arthritis.Sandrin-Garcia et al., Recife, Brazil. In Ann Hum Genet, Jan 2016
Since genetic association studies with ficolin genes in SLE and RA have not yet been conducted in a Brazilian population, the aim of this study was to determine whether polymorphisms of ficolin-1(FCN1) and ficolin-2 (FCN2) genes are associated with SLE and RA susceptibility as well as disease manifestation.
Effects of Sequence Variations in Innate Immune Response Genes on Infectious Outcome in Trauma Patients: A Comprehensive Review.Van Lieshout et al., Rotterdam, Netherlands. In Shock, Nov 2015
The following genes have been studied in populations of trauma patients: CD14, HMGB1, IFNG, IL1A, IL1B, IL1RN, IL4, IL6, IL8, IL10, IL17F, IL18, MBL2, MASP2, FCN2, TLR1, TLR2, TLR4, TLR9, TNF, LTA, GR, MYLK, NLRP3, PRDX6, RAGE, HSPA1B, HSPA1L, HSP90, SERPINE1, IRAK1, IRAK3, VEGFA, LY96, ANGPT2, LBP, MicroRNA, and mtDNA.
Salivary proteins of plant-feeding hemipteroids - implication in phytophagy.Fletcher et al., Orange, Australia. In Bull Entomol Res, 2014
Salivary enzymes such as M1-zinc metalloprotease and CLIP-domain serine protease as in Acyrthosiphon pisum (Aphididae), and non-enzymatic proteins such as apolipophorin, ficolin-3-like protein and 'lava-lamp' protein as in Diuraphis noxia (Aphididae) have the capacity to alter host-plant-defence mechanisms.
Collections and ficolins: humoral lectins of the innate immune defense.Jensenius et al., Denmark. In Annu Rev Immunol, 2002
The human collectins, mannan-binding lectin (MBL) and surfactant protein A and D (SP-A and SP-D), are oligomeric proteins composed of carbohydrate-recognition domains (CRDs) attached to collagenous regions and are thus structurally similar to the ficolins, L-ficolin, M-ficolin, and H-ficolin.
