The present study investigated the expression stability of eight candidate reference genes (GAPDH, ACTB, B2M, CycA, TBP, PBGD, HTRP 1 and 18S) in two mouse models of heart failure, including the transverse aortic arch constriction (TAC) model and the myocardial infarction (MI) model, using GeNorm software.
The results indicate that HTRP could inhibit the transcription of a viral promoter, whose interaction with SAP30 synergistically affects transcriptional inhibition of the herpes simplex virus type 1 genes, and is related to HDAC enzyme activity.

Structural analysis by mass spectrometry revealed that tryptophan 9 of alphaA- and tryptophan 60 of alphaB-crystallin were each converted into hydroxytryptophans (HTRP), N-formylkynurenine (NFK), and kynurenine (KYN).
