G protein pathway suppressor 1

This gene is known to suppress G-protein and mitogen-activated signal transduction in mammalian cells. The encoded protein shares significant similarity with Arabidopsis FUS6, which is a regulator of light-mediated signal transduction in plant cells. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] (from NCBI)

COP9 Signalosome Controls the Degradation of Cytosolic Misfolded Proteins and Protects Against Cardiac Proteotoxicity.
Wang et al., New Haven, United States. In Circ Res, Dec 2015
The cullin deneddylation activity of the COP9 signalosome (CSN) requires all 8 CSN subunits (CSN1 through CSN8) and regulates cullin-RING ligases, thereby controlling ubiquitination of a large number of proteins; however, neither CSN nor cullin-RING ligases is known to regulate the degradation of cytosolic misfolded proteins.
Translation of Exercise Test Response to Training Intensity Using the Count Scale.
Xu et al., Beijing, China. In Respir Care, Oct 2015
During the first session, in which exercise was guided by the heart rate, the CSN and heart rate were obtained (ie, CSN1 and HR1) while the heart rate was increased by 20% compared with the resting heart rate.
Glasgow Prognostic Score Predicts Clinical Outcomes in Patients with Pancreatic Cancer Undergoing Adjuvant Gemcitabine Monotherapy After Curative Surgery.
Morimoto et al., Yokohama, Japan. In Anticancer Res, Sep 2015
RESULTS: The disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) in patients with an elevated GPS (GPS1 or GPS2) were significantly poorer (p=0.001 and p=0.035, respectively, by log-rank test) than patients with a GPS of 0. An elevated GPS was found to be independently associated with poor DFS (p=0.002, by Cox regression model).

Patients were classified as GPS0, GPS1, or GPS2 based on C-reactive protein (CRP) ≤ 10 mg/l and albumin ≥ 35 g/l, CRP >10 mg/l or albumin <35 g/l, or CRP >10 mg/l and albumin <35 g/l, respectively.
