Budding uninhibited by benzimidazoles 1 homolog beta

Bub1, BubR1, BUB1B
This gene encodes a kinase involved in spindle checkpoint function. The protein has been localized to the kinetochore and plays a role in the inhibition of the anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C), delaying the onset of anaphase and ensuring proper chromosome segregation. Impaired spindle checkpoint function has been found in many forms of cancer. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] (from NCBI)

Bolanos-Garcia et al., Boston, United States. In Trends Mol Med, Jun 2015
The multidomain protein kinase BubR1 is a central component of the mitotic spindle assembly checkpoint (SAC), an essential self-monitoring system of the eukaryotic cell cycle that ensures the high fidelity of chromosome segregation by delaying the onset of anaphase until all chromosomes are properly bi-oriented on the mitotic spindle.
