SH3-domain GRB2-like endophilin B1

Bif-1, Endophilin B1, Bax-interacting factor-1, SH3GLB1
This gene encodes a SRC homology 3 domain-containing protein. The encoded protein interacts with the proapoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family, Bcl-2-associated X protein (Bax) and may be involved in regulating apoptotic signaling pathways. This protein may also be involved in maintaining mitochondrial morphology. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011] (from NCBI)
Papers on Bif-1
Cdk5-mediated phosphorylation of endophilin B1 is required for induced autophagy in models of Parkinson's disease.
Ip et al., Hong Kong, Hong Kong. In Nat Cell Biol, 2011
findings not only establish Cdk5 as a critical regulator of autophagy induction, but also reveal a role for Cdk5 and EndoB1 in the pathophysiology of Parkinson's disease through modulating autophagy
Down-regulation of Bax-interacting factor 1 in human pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.
Wang et al., Tampa, United States. In Pancreas, 2011
The expression of Bif-1 is downregulated in a subset of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. This novel finding is in agreement with the tumor suppressor function of Bif-1.
Bif-1 regulates Atg9 trafficking by mediating the fission of Golgi membranes during autophagy.
Wang et al., United States. In Autophagy, 2011
These findings suggest that Bif-1 acts as a critical regulator of Atg9 puncta formation presumably by mediating Golgi fission for autophagosome biogenesis during starvation.
GSK-3beta promotes cell survival by modulating Bif-1-dependent autophagy and cell death.
Li et al., Kansas City, United States. In J Cell Sci, 2010
GSK-3beta promotes cell survival by modulating Bif-1-dependent autophagic response and cell death.
