Quantitative iTRAQ secretome analysis of Aspergillus niger reveals novel hydrolytic enzymes.
Singapore, Singapore. In J Proteome Res, 2010
The enzymes have potential application in lignocellulosic biomass hydrolysis for biofuel production, for example, the cellulolytic and hemicellulolytic enzymes glucan 1,4-alpha-glucosidase, alpha-glucosidase C, endoglucanase, alpha l-arabinofuranosidase, beta-mannosidase, glycosyl hydrolase; proteases such as tripeptidyl-peptidase, aspergillopepsin, and other enzymes including cytochrome c oxidase, cytochrome c oxidase, glucose oxidase were highly expressed in A. niger and its mutant secretion.
Pyridylamination as a means of analyzing complex sugar chains.
Toyonaka, Japan. In Proc Jpn Acad Ser B Phys Biol Sci, 2009
This novel approach was applied and some of the results are described: i) a glucosyl-serine type sugar chain found in blood coagulation factors; ii) discovery of endo-beta-mannosidase (EC 188.8.131.52)
Cloning, expression in Pichia pastoris, and characterization of a thermostable GH5 mannan endo-1,4-beta-mannosidase from Aspergillus niger BK01.
Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. In Microb Cell Fact, 2008
Biodegradation of beta-mannans by the action of thermostable mannan endo-1,4-beta-mannosidase offers significant technical advantages in biotechnological industrial applications, i.e. delignification of kraft pulps or the pretreatment of lignocellulosic biomass rich in mannan for the production of second generation biofuels, as well as for applications in oil and gas well stimulation, extraction of vegetable oils and coffee beans, and the production of value-added products such as prebiotic manno-oligosaccharides (MOS).
Human beta-mannosidase deficiency associated with peripheral neuropathy.
Toulouse, France. In Ann Neurol, 1994
We present a further case in a black African 14-year-old boy with severely deficient beta-mannosidase activity, bilateral thenar and hypothenar amyotrophy, electrophysiologically demonstrable demyelinating peripheral neuropathy, and cytoplasmic vacuolation of skin fibroblasts and lymphoid cells.
Mammalian beta-D-mannosidase and beta-mannosidosis.
Paris, France. In Biochimie, 1992
Our own results concerning human enzyme (from kidney and urine, seminal plasma and blood cells) suggest that, apart from the case of the inherited disease, beta-mannosidase may become a useful tool in other pathologies.
