Angiomotin like 2
Amotl-2, angiomotin-like-2, KIAA0989
Angiomotin is a protein that binds angiostatin, a circulating inhibitor of the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis). Angiomotin mediates angiostatin inhibition of endothelial cell migration and tube formation in vitro. The protein encoded by this gene is related to angiomotin and is a member of the motins protein family. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] (from

The partial cDNA exhibited a high degree of identity to an uncharacterized human cDNA clone, KIAA0989, which encodes a protein of 780 amino acids and contains a predicted coiled-coil domain in the middle of the protein.
The motin family of proteins is comprised of three polypeptides, angiomotin, angiomotin-like 1, and angiomotin-like 2. Angiomotin is an angiostatin-binding protein that promotes endothelial cell motility and is involved in angiogenesis.
