Angiotensin-(1-7): beyond the cardio-renal actions.Santos et al., Belo Horizonte, Brazil. In Clin Sci (lond), 30 Apr 2013
The interaction Ang-(1-7)/Mas regulates different signalling pathways, such as PI3K (phosphoinositide 3-kinase)/AKT and ERK (extracellularsignal-regulated kinase) pathways and involves downstream effectors such as NO, FOXO1 (forkhead box O1) and COX-2 (cyclo-oxygenase-2).
Which drug, and when, for patients with BRAF-mutant melanoma?Atkins et al., Washington, D.C., United States. In Lancet Oncol, 28 Feb 2013
Multiple resistance mechanisms have been identified, including those that lead to reactivation of the MAPK pathway and other pathways, such as the PI3K-AKT-mTOR and VEGF pathways.
Molecular basis of physiological heart growth: fundamental concepts and new players.Molkentin et al., Cincinnati, United States. In Nat Rev Mol Cell Biol, Jan 2013
Physiological hypertrophy is initiated by finite signals, which include growth hormones (such as thyroid hormone, insulin, insulin-like growth factor 1 and vascular endothelial growth factor) and mechanical forces that converge on a limited number of intracellular signalling pathways (such as PI3K, AKT, AMP-activated protein kinase and mTOR) to affect gene transcription, protein translation and metabolism.
[Predictive biomarkers for anti-EGFR antibodies].Yoshino et al., Chiba, Japan. In Gan To Kagaku Ryoho, Nov 2012
These facts suggest that additional activating mutations in the RAS-RAF-MAPK or PI3K-AKT-mTOR pathways may also confer resistance to anti-EGFR antibody therapies.
Deregulation of signalling pathways in prognostic subtypes of hepatocellular carcinoma: novel insights from interspecies comparison.Pascale et al., Sassari, Italy. In Biochim Biophys Acta, Aug 2012
Mounting evidence emphasises the role of up-regulation of RAS/ERK, P13K/AKT, IKK/NF-kB, WNT, TGF-ß, NOTCH, Hedgehog, and Hippo signalling pathways as well as of aberrant proteasomal activity in hepatocarcinogenesis. Signalling deregulation often occurs in preneoplastic stages of rodent and human hepatocarcinogenesis and progressively increases in carcinomas, being most pronounced in more aggressive tumours.
